BerlinCaseViewer app: Our modules
Continuing medical education in radiology at your fingertips
Learn axial spondyloarthritis now!
Eight cases, complete with clinical information and imaging results (including X-ray and MRI), will guide you through the diagnosis of axial spondyloarthritis. Presenting typical lesions at the sacroiliac joints and spine, the module also takes relevant differential diagnoses into account.
Pulmonary diseases: Learn and test your knowledge!
This large module illustrates the potential of computed tomography when diagnosing lung diseases. Nineteen well-selected cases provide a good overview of lung diseases, e.g. pulmonary fibrosis, apergilloma, lung cancer and COVID-19 — also available as light version with 8 cases.
Case of the month // Cardiac and pulmonary
This free module features three cases didactically prepared for you to dive deeply into topics regarding the lungs and the heart.
Biscuitology — The Christmas lecture
Learn about axial spondyloarthritis in a fun and sweet way. In our Christmas lecture, radiologist Kay G. Hermann deploys tailor-made cookies to familiarize you with the pathologic lesions in axSpA. You will get access to high-resolution images of the cookies used, plus behind-the-scenes photos and of course the recipe. Enjoy!
Collection of shoulder cases // Overuse or arthritis?
With this mini-module, we direct the radiological focus to differentiate between overuse-related and inflammatory diseases. Learn about tendinosis of the rotator cuff, calcific tendinopathy, rheumatoid arthritis and crystal diseases using CPPD as an example.
Inflammatory diseases of the ankle and foot — and its differentials
Diseases of the ankle and foot can be very debilitating for patients. Many inflammatory diseases show their manifestation in the lower extremities. However, there are also degenerative and overuse conditions. In this introductory module, you will learn about peripheral spondyloarthritis and tophaceous gout among others, and how to differentiate them from e.g. bone cyst, Ewing’s sarcoma, plantar fasciitis and other conditions.
Get confidence in applying the modified New York criteria!
Gain confidence in evaluating pelvic radiographs with this comprehensive radiology module. The assessment of the severity of sacroiliitis is a challenge for rheumatologists and radiologists alike. The grading of the cases provided is based on the consensus of three experienced radiologists. For each case, you will receive the CT images for comparison to better understand the destruction of the joints.
Arthritis 101 — Detecting arthritis on X-rays
What are typical arthritis signs and how to identify them in radiographs? Recapitulating basic anatomical structures in radiographs of hands and feet, you will understand the underlying pathological processes in osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis and psoriatic arthritis. This module is suitable for students and doctors alike to gain more confidence in the diagnosis of patients with joint problems.
MR imaging of the ulnar nerve
In this module, we present diseases of the ulnar nerve. Learn more about schwannomas, ganglion cysts, neuropathies, and others. You can find an introduction to this topic by radiologist Christoph Agten on YouTube.
Anatomy of the ulnar nerve on MRI
Learn to understand the course of the ulnar nerve at the wrist, its division into branches, and its relationship to neighboring bones and muscles with this free case.
MSK.CASES collection by Dr. Aline Serfaty
Selected musculoskeletal cases made their way from 📷 @msk.cases by radiologist Aline Serfaty to the BerlinCaseViewer app. All cases are described in detail. To learn even more, head over to Instagram and find the corresponding posts with annotations.
Case of the month // Musculoskeletal
Get an insight into how the BerlinCaseViewer app works with the Case of the month module, featuring curated medical image data sets — completely free of charge. Every month, we select a new medical case for you to discover.
Pitfalls in the assessment of MRI of the axial skeleton
This introductory module is all about chronic back pain and axial spondyloarthritis. Beware of the pitfalls, though! Learn how to interpret enthesopathies and osteitis at the axial skeleton correctly. There are imaging findings that can be easily be confused with rheumatic diseases, but are indeed of mechanical origin.
Systematics of periosteal changes
This case collection is all about the periosteum, its structure and possible ailments. More than 15 cases illustrate different forms of periosteal ossification and introduce you to joint disorders with periosteal manifestations.
MRI of the Knee Joint: Meniscus
With eight pathological cases and two companion cases, the radiologist Wolfgang Fischer illustrates various meniscus lesions and meniscus changes that can be attributed to degenerative processes in the knee.
Radiology from Brazil
In collaboration with experienced radiologists from Brazil, an exciting module has been created that focuses on diseases that are rare and sometimes neglected in research or teaching elsewhere, but that are part of everyday clinical practice in Brazil, e.g. tuberculosis and cysticercosis.
