BerlinCaseViewer for Android & IDoR 2021 about Active Learning

Today we are celebrating the 10th International Radiology Day – IDoR 2021. Every year, radiologists use November 8th to raise awareness of the importance of medical imaging around the world. It was on this day that Conrad Wilhelm Röntgen discovered X-rays 126 years ago. Today, on top of that, we’re celebrating also the release of the Android version of the BerlinCaseViewer app.

Active care starts with active learning

This year, the #IDoR2021 with the motto “Interventional Radiology – Active care for the patient” is all about medical treatment. For radiologists to be optimally prepared in every situation, they need a solid knowledge base. Through continuing medical education, doctors further expand their knowledge and stay up to date. When it comes to active learning, our interactive app, the BerlinCaseViewer, comes into play.

The personalized learning experience is our main focus. And after completing their medical studies, doctors are committed to design their professional curriculum themselves. They switch from passive frontal teaching in the lecture hall to active learning according to personal needs, requirements and interests. With excitingly prepared, peer-reviewed special cases, the BerlinCaseViewer offers the opportunity to acquire specialist knowledge in no time – most notably in the field of pulmonology and musculoskeletal medicine.

BerlinCaseViewer app now also for Android

Following the motto “Learn when, where and how I want”, the BCV is already available for a range of end devices. In addition to the iOS versions for iPhone, iPad and Mac, there is now a version for Android smartphones available. Conquering yet another platform, even more people can gain access to our case collection within special learning modules. Around 70% of mobile devices worldwide run on the Android operating system and just under 30% on iOS. No wonder, that numerous inquiries for an Android version have reached us via social media, where more and more people are discovering our Instagram Reels on distinct cases.

Developing the beta version

In March, we have made the decision to expand our development team. After reaching out to Android experts around the globe until May, Abdul Manan Abid and his CodeCoy team from Lahore in Pakistan got to work at the beginning of June. In no time they have produced a prototype. From there it was baby steps for our new app addition. By now, CodeCoy has developed an Android beta version that already contains almost all the features that make learning with the BerlinCaseViewer app so interesting:

  • Extensive peer-reviewed case collection from experts
  • Clinical data providing patient background information
  • Multiple-choice questions guiding you to the correct diagnosis
  • Offline function once you downloaded cases to save data volume
  • Free Case of the Month modules

The only thing missing as yet: colored overlays for the images.

Get the Android version and try out the BerlinCaseViewer app

With the beta version, you can now already download the BerlinCaseViewer app to your Android smartphone and quiz your way through the cases. Our developers are working at full speed, so that with the upcoming update to the full version, you will soon enjoy the same interactive learning experience on Android as on iOS.

With our introductory discount we will sweeten the waiting time for you: During IDoR week, we offer a 25% discount for all modules in our e-shop (of course also for iOs users!). The Case of the Month modules and our special on COVID-19 pneumonia are free as it is. Get special radiological cases from experts from all over the world directly on your smartphone! Now try it yourself and download the app on your Android phone!
